# Additional statement information

Understand the additional information provided with your heating cost statement.

Your heating cost statement includes information about your energy consumption and the associated costs. This additional information helps make the statement transparent and lets you assess your energy use.

### Purpose of this information

Timely, accurate consumption information can help you adjust your heating habits, reduce costs and lower CO₂ emissions. Comparisons with average consumption can help identify opportunities to use less energy.

### What to find in your statement

Your personal statement may contain:

* **Comparison with the previous year:** Current consumption compared with the previous period, adjusted for weather using climate factors from the German Weather Service.
* **Comparison with average consumption:** Values comparing your consumption with an average user in the building and with national averages.
* **Energy sources and emissions:** The fuel used and the associated greenhouse gas emissions.

The taxes and levies included in energy costs depend on the energy source and the statement period. Check the costs and supporting documents for your statement. Ask your landlord or property manager to explain individual charges.
